CareCoach is a self-management support package designed specifically for you, as you are supporting a person living with dementia at home. We use the word ‘carer’ as an umbrella term to include all unpaid carers, most of whom are spouses, sons, daughters, or other family members, but may also include friends and neighbours.
The package is intended to provide you with knowledge, skills, and support to navigate your individual circumstances as you care for your person living with dementia. CareCoach has been co-developed with carers and dementia experienced staff.
This resource is being offered through the CareCoach study based at the University of East Anglia. For more information please the study team at carecoach@uea.ac.uk
Together with your coach, you’ll select the right modules for you. Each module focuses on a different theme. Choose the modules that you need most or that you would like to know more about.
Each module begins with an introduction video featuring people in similar situations to you, talking about their experiences and offering useful tips for other people caring for someone living with dementia.
After watching the video, you can read more information and tips about a module’s theme.
Then you are invited to do some writing and thinking.
Finally, each module ends with a step-by-step plan that shows you, one step at a time, how to apply the knowledge and skills from CareCoach to your caring journey.
Your personal coach will help you as you work through the course and give you feedback on the assignments you do.
